Kerry Ryan has been making neon art and signs for over 35 years. Ryan has worked with a plethora of artists creating design, fabrication and installation services both in the UK and globally including Tracey Emin, for whom he made his first neon, The Tracey Emin Museumin 1995, Gavin Turk, Sarah Lucas, Gilbert & George, Stik, Noble & Webster to name but a few. This is where his art collection began.
Ryan began an apprenticeship in silkscreen printing and sign writing for The Truman Brewery in 1982 and founded Neon Specialists in the 1980s, a family run business, established in Spitalfields, London. Neon Specialists high quality neon glass fabrications and fine art neon sculptures for artists, galleries and auction houses.
As well as the design studio and showroom on Hackney Road in East London, there is now a neon studio in Miami for work carried out across the Atlantic. Opening soon in London and Margate will be a gallery space and museum for the art collection and an opportunity to attend much anticipated neon bending workshops and master classes.
